The vocational programme sees prison inmates learn a variety of essential skills needed for a future career in construction, including painting and decorating, which is where Leyland’s extensive range of trade paints comes to the fore and has been a resounding success. Not only do around 90% of those enrolled on the course complete it to gain a full qualification, but statistics also show that those inmates who have participated in the course are less likely to reoffend in future.

Leyland’s products also played a starring role in a recent BBC documentary series, The Prisoners, which aired in Spring 2013 on BBC One, providing a real glimpse into the lives of prison inmates leading up to and following their release from jail. In one of the programmes, which took a closer look at the training programmes provided, including vocational courses for trades such as painting and decorating, Leyland paint was clearly seen being used by inmates.
